[man] manのセクション番号とwhatis

$ whatis chown
  chown (1)            - ファイルの所有者とグループを変更する
  chown (2)            - ファイルの所有者を変更する
  chown (1)            - change file owner and group
  chown (2)            - change ownership of a file
  chown (1p)           - change the file ownership
  chown (3p)           - change owner and group of a file

pはProgrammer's Manualらしい．

以下のようにするとセクション番号2のマニュアルが読める．

$ man 2 chown

openSUSEだと賢く聞いてくれるので，"man コマンド名"とすれば万事オッケー．僕の環境では，+ありが英語版，+なしが日本語版だった．ロケールを日本語にしているからかな．

$ man chown
Man: find all matching manual pages (set MAN_POSIXLY_CORRECT to avoid this)
 * chown (1)
   chown (1+)
   chown (2)
   chown (2+)
   chown (1p)
   chown (3p)
